Career Night
Sunday, June 19

The Metabolomics Society is excited to announce our second Career Night at the 18th International Conference in Valencia. This dynamic event will feature representatives from all employment sectors who want to engage with job seekers. 

Career Night will include a job fair for participants to learn about available positions and interact in a relaxed setting with potential employers. One-on-one interviews between employers and candidates may also be conducted during the conference. The job fair will also be hosting a "mentoring and tips" table that will provide attendees with career focused practical advice from experienced researches. 

As some participants may not be currently seeking new employment, the job fair will also include an interactive roundtable event for participants to develop rapport and expand their networks to ready themselves for future employment. 

This roundtable event will feature dicussants covering topics such as:

  • Career transitions
  • Women in science
  • International networking
  • Careers in Government
  • Careers in Academia
  • Careers in Industry
  • Obtaining a postdoctoral fellowship
  • Setting up and managing your first lab
  • Grant writing
  • How to publish

Employers - The Metabolomics 2022 Career Night is welcoming potential employers looking to fill positions in the next year!  Both industry and academic employers are encouraged to sign up for a table, including academic employers with postdoctoral position openings. This networking event will allow you to meet with job candidates during Career Night in Valencia!  Additionally, meeting space will be available to have further discussion with applicants during the conference week. Don’t miss out on these qualified job candidates and click here to sign up for a table at Career Night. Welcome Reception
Monday, June 20

During the Welcome Reception, Agilent has sponsored a beverage station to make sure no one goes thirsty! Plan to stop by the Agilent booth to visit with a rep and claim an extra drink ticket. This is sure to be a hot spot during the Welcome Reception, thank you Agilent for your contribution! 

Metabolomics Society Town Hall Meeting
Monday, June 20

The Town Hall Meeting is an informal opportunity to meet the Officers of the Board of Directors for the Society. There will be brief presentations by Jessica Lasky-Su (President), Baljit Ubhi (Treasurer) and Fabien Jourdan (Secretary) on the current standing of the Society and our future plans. This is open to all members of the society and there will be an informal question and answers session at the end of the presentations. This is your chance to find out how the society functions and also influence the future direction of the society so please come! The Town Hall Meeting will take place on Monday evening following Poster Session 1.


EMN Reception
Tuesday, June 21

Are you a graduate student or within five years of completion of your highest degree? Then you are warmly invited to attend the Early-Career Members Network (EMN) annual reception! Join us for a fun night where you learn more about the members and activities organized by the EMN committee. In addition, you can also participate in a fun trivia game, accompanied by snacks and drinks. Some gifts will be given to the winners!

The EMN committee aspires to engage with and attract early-career researchers to join and actively contribute to the Metabolomics Society. As a vital part of the Metabolomics Society, the EMN provides scientific and career support for early-career members. The mission of the EMN committee is to recognize the value and importance of early-career scientists and to ensure that their views are shared within the Society.


Conference Dinner
Wednesday, June 22

The Conference Dinner will take place at Veles E Vents, an emblematic and iconic building that represents the Mediterranean. Crossing its doors is traveling to Valencia's Spanish heritage and enrolling in a unique experience. Join us for a beautiful evening filled with dinner, drinks, old and new friends, and of course a sunset over the Mediterranean!

The cost to attend the dinner is included with your full-access conference registration. If you have an Exhibit Hall Only or Single Day pass, the dinner is not included in your registration. Tickets for guests are not available for purchase. Attendees do NOT need to purchase a ticket.
